Safer Winter Driving with Road Pilot Lenses

Updated: Nov 21, 2023

Nowadays, we are all spending more time on the road. However, the same problem comes up time and again when we are behind the wheel : we don’t feel as comfortable when driving at night. In fact, a recent survey of UK motorists shows that 85% experience glare while driving and 31% avoid driving at night.

Problems with Glare at Night

Lights at night can create reflections and glare on our spectacles. They come from all directions and different sources, including headlights, traffic lights and street lamps. This can make driving a very uncomfortable experience rather than a real pleasure.

Glare protection

New innovative Road Pilot lenses are specially adapted to combat glare and help you see clearly when driving day and night. Road Pilot lenses come automatically with Crizal Drive - a new premium anti-reflective coating that offers :

  • Up to 90% less reflections at night leading to a decrease in glare

  • Optimal clarity of vision during the day,

  • Protection against scratches, smudges, dust, water and UV

Problems with Winter Sun

Because it's so low in the sky, winter sun can be just as uncomfortable to drivers as summer sun. To help protect your eyes against the glare of winter sun, we recommend Transitions XtrActiv on your Road Pilot lenses.

Exra Sun Protection

Transitions XtrActiv is a light-sensitive tint that goes extra dark in sunny conditions. Standard photochromic lenses react to UV light which means they darken well outdoors but never darken fully behind a car windscreen. However, new improved Transitions XtrActiv are specially designed to respond to visible light and so will go extra dark, offering extra protection against the sun when driving.
